Are Hurricanes Racist?
9/13/05
by JT

Recently several black leaders in America including the Reverend Jesse Jackson and rapper/ "guy who started the wearing your collar up trend" Kanye West put forth not so subtle claims that the horrific loss of life in the wake of hurricane Katrina would not have been so great were the victims white, declaring that racism was involved. Upon hearing this I sequestered myself to a dark room and pondered the question that has been plaguing this country since the hurricane hit our gulf coast..... are hurricanes racist?

Of course the initial response is that this is a ridiculous claim. How could a hurricane possibly be racist. By definition, a hurricane is classified as when a tropical storm reaches winds of 74 mph or greater. Nowhere does it mention the hurricane's ability to think, reason, or hate a group of people strictly based on their ethnic background or color of skin. But there are some shocking facts that need to be discussed. Dig deeper my friends and ask yourselves, where do hurricanes usually strike? They often hit the southern US, they hit Jamaica, Haiti, and other islands of the Caribbean.... do you see the trend here? Who lives in these areas? (Clay excepted). That's right, black people. When was the last time you heard about a hurricane striking Montana? When was the last time the people of Canada, Scotland or Wisconsin were fleeing the path of this vicious weather phenomenon? Never, that's when. This quick bit of logic was all I needed and I came to the conclusion that was crystal clear, and it absolutely floored me. Hurricanes hate black people. It's time we stopped skirting this issue. It's time we started making hurricanes destroy equally amongst all races or ask them to leave. Personally I am tired of our government sitting idly by while yet another racist hurricane destroys a black community. It's time for us to take action people!

A "white" hurricane attacks again.

But it doesn't stop there. All natural disasters are racist. Think about tornadoes. Where do they usually hit? In Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, eastern Colorado, Iowa, and northern Texas. Also known as Tornado Alley, USA, and home to some of the finest trailer parks in our country. And who lives in these trailer parks? White people. Yep. Tornadoes are racist towards white people. They hate them so much they will send up to half a dozen tornadoes at once to terrorize these poor destitute indigents, knowing that they lack the mental capacity to move out of the way (seeing as how they were dumb enough to live in an area dubbed "tornado alley" and the homes they live in are not fully entrenched in the earth, but in fact have wheels on them). Has this blatant flaunting of racism been punished? No, it hasn't. Tornadoes are still allowed to show up whenever they feel like it and destroy white people's mobile homes. It is appalling.

How about tsunamis? It seems fairly obvious after the tragedy last December that tsunamis have an extreme dislike for Asian people. Earthquakes? They hate Indonesians and gay people. (see the San Francisco earthquake of 1989). In fact if you look deep enough you can find a natural disaster that hates every race of the world. The only exception would be the Native Americans, most likely due to their close connection with mother earth. (Actually, Native Americans did have a natural disaster strike them, it was called the European Migration.)

I'm calling upon the governments of the world, the UN, anybody who will listen to take action. It is time to put a stop to racist natural disasters. Would Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, Susan B. Anthony, Norma Rae or Oskar Schindler have sat quietly by while such blatant equal rights violations occurred?

Oscar Schlindler was no fan of racist storms. Here he rallies Germans to fight tornadoes.

I would like to believe, perhaps they would have risen up and taken action! Exposing these natural disasters for what they really are and become our voice of egalitarian reason. Taking the people with them to destroy the ugly face of natural disaster racism worldwide! Unfortunately, they are all dead. So it is left to you and I to wage this war.

On a serious note, if you haven't already given to the Hurricane Katrina relief fund, here is the link to donate.
Every little bit helps and they need all the help we can give.
