COLIN FARRELL

by DJ
A few weeks ago I was in London playing their team. The thing about basketball
in England and all of Europe is that you are the NBA in their country.
And since soccer (footie) is the main sport they are really trying to push basketball
like it is in the states. You are always on TV, your teams are advertised on
TV and in Foot Locker etc. So when celebs wanna see basketball they come
to our games. London, Brighton, Newcastle, and Scotland (Glasgow) are the
main places where they go. I've seen the Gallaghers (Oasis), Girls Aloud,
Blue (Boy Band), a handful of models, and some actors as well.
After a close victory over London, I went back to my hotel room and changed
waiting for the rest of my teammates to go out. As it turns out we were leaving
early in the morning and they all dropped out so I went solo. Little
did I know I was about to embark on one of the coolest adventures of my life.
I got a cab to the club and noticed crazy limos and buses outside and told the
driver to stop. It was called ChinaWhite. The thing about this club is that
it's so exclusive there aren't even any lines outside, strictly guest list and
who you know/are. Let it be known that (and Clay can attest to this) I
am nobody, not your typical blinging hoopster, just was blessed with "the
gift of the gab" as it has been called before, and a great basketball
body. I get to the door and the doorman looks at me and I ask, "Where
is the line?" like a dumbass. He says to me, "There is none mate.
Who are ya?" I told him who I was and who I played for. Our team is Chester, right
outside of Liverpool, and currently in first place. He calls it in, and the
manager checks it out on the web inside and this door opens. The doorman (as
they are called here) says, "Av a good one mate. I'll send someone round
to your table in a sec to serve you, you got booth 18." I was like OK.
I get in the elevator to the VIP floor and I walk past THE MOST beautiful
chicks I've ever seen to get to my table. There are dancers in cages hanging
off the ceiling, like something you would see in Vegas in Club Rain. All
the rooms were separate and separated by glass overlooking a dance floor. You
can see out over the floor but they can't see in (how cool is that!?). But you
can look to your left and right to see the people in your VIP areas. I am by
myself, mind you, and this bottle of wine comes over with three fine ass chicks
and they say, " This is from Colin he says good game tonight." I'm
like who is Colin? I say thanks and drink a glass, then I walk around to find
this Colin guy. I hear this harsh accent coupled with the giggles of many
chicks three booths down from me and I peek in. I see the dude. His security
guard stands up, whispers to him and waves me in. He was like, "Hey mate,
I was at the game tonight, well done lad!! You get your bottle?" I was
so awestruck. Speechless. I quickly shook it off, and sat down. He chain smoked
a pack of Malrboro Lights while we talked about basketball and acting and stuff
for like 30 minutes, all the while these chicks (you know like the ones you
see in Vampire movies that are all over the head vampire?), were ALL OVER him
and spilling over to me once they realized that I was American and I played
ball. Lets just say I had the most fun an engaged man can have. After it was
over at 4AM (he kept it open late), he tells a driver to ride me back to the
hotel where my flight leaves in 2 hours. I told all my teammates and they are
fuming that they didnt go.... It was the best night I've had.. and I've had
some good ones my friends... Lets hope my next comlumn bring more celebrity
news from overseas....
